Since we have about 1010 topics are related to Montage, All questions are about how to program the Montage? How to program the Super Knob? How to program the ARP, How to program the Motion Sequencer....ect.....

There are a lot of answers from Admin and Phil....We spent a lot of time for this Forum but not really help ..I myself can't do the program it as expect...I don't have a lot of skills and don't have a lot of times to spend with my Montage...What i need is a series of video to show us how to work with this Montage, show us steps by step how to program it...

The instructions we have here are un-clear, not enough for the newbie like me, Why don't Yamaha do some video instructions please?

Thanks for your help !
Tho

I agree videos would be more clear or at least remove any possible ambiguity except for differences which may occur when firmware is updated and a video is based on older firmware.

General statement about instructions available in the forums ...

For the most part, all instructions I've given use Yamaha nomenclature for referring to buttons which matches the owner's manual. For most buttons that are not clearly labeled to match the button name in the owner's manual (like "Number A [1]-[16]") I usually explain what these are by referencing silkscreens (text) that are on the keyboard as a second reference point. Phil does the same thing, so there should not be a question of what button to press within the instructions.

For touchscreen, I've been designating touchscreen by first calling out "Touchscreen (TS):" then using the abbreviation "TS:" for subsequent steps. When navigating within the touchscreen, I quote what to press which matches the text on the screen - and use a common method of showing nested menus "First menu" -> "Second Menu.

This leaves knobs, faders, and controls which I also use the terms in the manuals. Often adding terms like "left most" to help orient the reader (faders/assignable knobs) when only number would be sufficient.

I think that, like text instructions, even using videos the user can "check out" if they perceive there are too many steps or "it's too hard".

This is where the simple videos come in since some basics can be conveyed without receiving the critique of being too lengthy/detailed/etc. Maybe there's a happy medium - but any help offered is open to one form of critique or another.

Specific to your request (or spirit of your request) ...

"How to program it" is a bit vague. You do allude to some specifics - superknob, arps, motion sequence - but there you are listing what seems to be a rhetorical question on what topics have been discussed or some issue with sorting out the trees from the forest. Search could be improved (to read the forum deep-dive threads) - but Yamaha has put together a great set of tutorials which covers superknob, sidechain, motion sequence, envelope follower, etc. "MASTERING MONTAGE: LESSONS FROM A MASTER" which is in the "Articles" section (see top bar) on this site. And there are other articles there on Cubase/MIDI, Yamaha Connect, ARP Creation.

No, not videos, but clear instructions to get you from newbie to a working level to do something useful.

The forum supplements that material as a deeper-dive is available.

Not everyone sees things the same way - or understands a particular author's lingo - so the forum is also good to double-check an understanding of the documentation. And certainly there are threads where the material is "rehashed" in a way that may be more accessible to a particular user or group of users.

Here are some videos which I take it are not sufficient:

Many are sponsored by Yamaha - some are not. There's more. Search engines do not take long to use.

Not a video, but there are other resources such as (and this is just a small sample) FM-X programming:

Just a reminder that non-video tutorials still have utility.

So, has Yamaha given up on making their own Video Tutorials for the Montage ? Should I just forget about waiting for them to show up in the near future ?

Honestly, I'm not happy about the lack of video-tutorial support for the Montage from Yamaha. No excuses ... We are in 2016, come on Yamaha, what are you waiting for ? Youtube ? come on... make them and post them for us, who invested into your awesome Montage Synth. , and have been begging you for a in-depth video tutorial series, and this should be free !

Thanks.

As I mentioned, many are from Yamaha. The 9 quality tutorials from Michael Tan appear to have Yamaha sponsorship and production given the high quality of the editing, video, use of the company animated logo, etc. I did not break apart where each tutorial came from, but a playlist may be easier to manage;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAtlU9iVkLY&list=PLxEKSIkCIKA3rElm_lzeu6M-yOFV35etT

Posting date shows Aug 23, 2016 - so maybe not meeting your timetable expectations - but still a quality effort.

I like the post-effects they put on the video to highlight what to press. I like that, unlike some, Michael has blur turned OFF so the touchscreen is as clear as possible.

I don't know where Katsunori Ujiie's videos fall - but I see these as fairly close to a "Yamaha" video although he seems to have a bit more autonomy (more of a consultant than full-time employee). I'm just guessing, but I think it's fair to lump his few videos into the "from Yamaha" category.

So maybe just over a couple handfuls of high-quality videos directly from Yamaha. I'm, of course, not counting any of the marketing videos which includes the vast array of feature-oriented videos done by various Yamaha product specialists.

Maybe I'm archaic - but I'm fairly happy with the documentation available. This includes lots of "printed" material including website articles (this site - "blog like" - but they call them articles here), magazine articles, and the manuals (owners, new feature, data list, reference manual). There's enough that some of my questions are deemed as too acute for discussion. But this is what will happen when the documentation is complete save some specific details.

I have had to work at certain areas like how motion control works - but there's enough information to arrive at an understanding if willing to do some work. I agree there could be more detail in what's available - but hardly (in my opinion) insufficient to the level of the "this day and age" argument.

It's helpful to know if the customer base wants video tutorials and there is encouragement to focus more on video tutorials. So I'm sure your feedback, in aggregate, is useful for shaping the future support.
