I am unsure how to phrase this, but I want to be able to trigger a certain layer of voices that I find in Performance mode from within my Cubase AI. Is this possible?

No. All Parts of a Performance are on the same MIDI channel. That’s how your are able to play them all together with your keyboard.
You can simply select the Voice you really want from that Performance and place it in a Mixing on a single Part.

Thanks. I was afraid that was the case. It seems that merely selecting the voices doesn't quite produce the same sound. Perhaps the effects are not the same? How can I reproduce the effects of the performance?

If you give us specifics we can be specific in our answer.

But in general, you can copy the Part and it’s effects to a SONG/PATTERN Mixing setup... and you can select which attributes you wish to copy.

Go to a blank SONG or PATTERN
Press [MIXING]
Press [F4] TEMPLATE
Press [SF2] PERFORM

Select your Performance... this copies the four Parts of the Performance onto four separate MIDI channels... keep the one you are interested in.
