I am trying out the motif xf editor in voice mode. It seems some things are synchronized and others are not. For example, if in edit mode, both the motif and the editor are set to the same element, then I can adjust envelope levels on the motif and I see corresponding adjustment on my computer screen. However if I select another element on the motif, it is not selected on the computer. Am I doing something wrong, or is that just how it is?

Thanks

When the Yamaha Motif XF Editor is ONLINE: Whatever you change in the software changes in the hardware, and whatever you change in the hardware changes in the software.

You use the word “select” — I am using the word “change” — very much on purpose!
When ONLINE the Editor’s graphic user interface shows what would be seen if you navigated to that specific area of the synth’s firmware - the concept is, if your editing in the computer you’re looking at the computer screen... if your editing in the hardware your looking at the XF screen. Changing values in one changes the value in the other.

No need to place the restrictions of ‘how much‘ data can be viewed at once on the other.
There is really no need to have the screen view synchronized based on how it is to be used.
The parameter settings are 1:1 when you’re ONLINE. That’s guaranteed!

So if I understand you correctly, the displays might not synchronized, but rest assured the data is.
I guess I was thinking I could use the motif kind of as a control surface for the xf editor. But this works too!
Tnx
