Erskine Hawkins and Montage

Inspired by his father — gospel and jazz pianist Erskine Hawkins Jr. —  Hawkins started playing the piano at age 13 and was leading bands by age 14! His pianistic influences include Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Robert Glasper and Jamar Jones.

He recently got his hands on MONTAGE for the first time and sent us this message: “This board is so amazing that I had to make a video showing the world some of what it can do. Looking forward to taking it with me to South America with Eminem!” Erskine’s video highlights his impressive musical range and what a great musician can do with such an impressive sounding instrument. He shows how Seamless Sound Switching can move from one Performance to another, uses Motion Control and the Super Knob to dynamically change Performances and ends with a cool synth example highlighting the powerful Motion Control Synthesis System.
