I was at the music store this past weekend to demo and buy some Yamaha HS series speakers.
While waiting I noticed they had a CP88 there, so I tried out the pianos. I have a Montage 8 and both the CFX & Bosendorfer pianos are great on it, but I don't have my favorite piano, which is a C7 grand. As I tried the CFX and Bosendorfer, I found they were pretty much the same as the Montage.
However, I was disappointingly not impressed with the C7 grand as I hoped to be. My favorite all time piano sound is the Synthogy Ivory C7 Grand VST, and I was hoping that the CP88's C7 would have been somewhat similar to Synthogy's, but unfortunately it was not even close IMHO! That was just my experience... If you haven't heard Synthogy's C7, here are a couple of demos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArB3JBVeuL0 (at the 0:16 mark the C7 in the comparison sounds most like the actual Chicago song recording IMHO, which I am guessing they actually used a C7 grand in the recording)
Is the Genos C7 pretty much the same as the CP88's? What about K-Sounds Epic Grand? Has anyone had the opportunity to play that piano library on a MODX or Montage?
I have to apologize. I was back at the music store today to bring back the Yamaha HS8 speakers, and mentioned to the main Keyboard sales person about my disappointment with the C7 sound on the CP88. He told me that he just loaded the C7 sound on that keyboard today, so it was not there the weekend prior. I do recall that when I thought I had played the C7 that the name was a bit off, as it had 000C, 7000, or something similar in the name.
After playing the 'actual' C7 today, it sounded quite awesome, so Yamaha have done a fantastic job with that piano as well!
