Hi just joined this forum. I have recently purchased a Yamaha CP4 Stage which I love. BUT...I used to own a P155 and the string sounds would naturally fade away after you released the note, not just have the sound abruptly finish as it does on the CP4 Stage (a much more sophisticated and more expensive model!). Is there any way that this can be edited on the CP4 Stage to make it more 'natural' as you finish playing a note because at the moment I find it very hard to control.
Thanks!
The parameter you are looking for is Ampltude Envelope Generator - Release (Time)
You want to EDIT your Performance.
Call up the PERFORMANCE containing the String Voice
Press [EDIT]
Advance to 02: Part
If the String is the LAYER Part, hold [PART SELECT] + [LAYER] to view the parameters of the Layer Part
Select 02: Filter/EG
EG is the Envelope Generator which is responsible for how a sound behaves in terms of volume... How it comes in (Attack), what it does while a key is held (Decay), and how it disappears after key off (Release).
Set as is comfortable for you.
Press [STORE] to write this to your Performance.
Hope that helps.
THANK YOU - I cannot tell you how much this helped - i have managed to edit the attack and release to make the strings sound exactly how I wanted!!:)
Another question though:
Is is possible to edit one of the string voices rather than one of the performances so that you can select the stored and edited string voice more easily?
If so, where could this newly edited voice be stored please?
Thanks
No, all edits on the CP4 Stage are stored to a PERFORMANCE... which consists of the 3 selected PARTS: MAIN, LAYER and SPLIT. You select whether the LAYER and/or SPLIT PARTS are active or not initially (or are 'in waiting').
