Is it possible to “lock” the CP4 in Performance mode so that I can use the Voice-Buttons to instantly recall performance setups stored in Banks A-H? Consequently, If I press any of the voice buttons while the CP4 is in Performance mode, the CP4 switches from Performance mode to Voice mode. This is so irritating.
Currently, the only way to change performances (without the CP4 switching back to Voice-mode) is to either use the Data Wheel or the (-)No/(+)Yes buttons.
Hi Joel, Welcome to Yamaha Synth!
Currently, the only way to change performances (without the CP4 switching back to Voice-mode) is to either use the Data Wheel or the (-)No/(+)Yes buttons.
That's not actually true. You can place the CP4 Stage in what is called "Performance Direct Select" mode.
On the front panel you will see the [SHIFT] button is connected to the [PERFORMANCE Play/Select] button by a silk screen line. Holding [SHIFT] + [PERFORMANCE] will place you in the mode. You can now advance through your Performances by touching one of the sixteen 'Category' buttons.
To switch between banks of 16 while in Performance Direct Select mode simply touch [SHIFT] + [INC]/[DEC].
Now even touching the [SPLIT] or [LAYER] buttons no longer exits from the Performance Direct Select screen. This should be just what you are looking for while performing.
You will find the Owner's Manual is excellent for this type of information... See the "Tip" on page 31. Hope that helps.
Hey Bad Mister,
Thanks for replay and once again, you are correct. Thanks for the information.
This was very helpful!
