Here's what I'd like to do if possible. I would like to split the keyboard just under the middle of the keyboard. No problem, I can do that. I have Strings on the right and French Horn on the left. Got it. For my purposes though I need to raise the Horn a couple of octaves but not the strings. Can this be done?

Yes. This is a PART parameter.
Press [EDIT]
Select 02: PART
Select 01: PLAY MODE
Touch [PART SELECT] + [SPLIT] to select the Split Part for editing
Use the UP/DOWN CURSOR arrows to select the screen with the NOTE SHIFT parameter
+24 will raise the Split Part 2 octaves
Press [STORE] to store this to your Performance.
