I have a Yamaha XS 8 - There is a digital out on the back panel. What kind of cable "optical audio cable" goes there. Is it based on the "Sony Philips Digital Interconnect Format" (S/PDIF), The Yamaha connection end looks like RJ 45? Please help.

I want to send audio signal from the Motif XS into Audio A/D interface for signal processing - before going into DAW.

Thanks

The Digital Output on the XS ... use this connector to output digital signals over coaxial (RCA-pin) cable. The digital signal format is CD/DAT (S/P DIF). This connector outputs a digital signal of 44.1 kHz/24 bit. By using this jack, you can record the keyboard performance or Song/Pattern playback of this synthesizer to external media (e.g., a CD recorder) with exceptionally high-quality sound—thanks to the direct digital connection.

There is an Ethernet Port on an XS but that is for data transfer in a network with routers and computers.

In general, when seated at the keyboard, the audio ins and outs are at the low end, your data transfer and networking connections are on the high end (along with the A/C Jack).
