I constructed a song in PATTERN a long time ago which I want to redo, fresh using a new pattern. I want to reuse again, as-is, a few of the original phrases I recorded into the sequencer. Right or wrong, I chose the copy phrase job to try to do this. I read the manual and am clear on the source parameters but not so clear how to control / set the precise destination where I want to place the copied source phrase. Two questions; 1) How do I copy an existing phrase to a specific destination pattern / section / track? The only destination parameter to enter is the phrase # . Does that mean I can only use this job to replace an existing phrase whereupon the job will then replace the complete destination phrase with the source phrase? 2) What if I have no patches yet recorded on my new destination pattern. Can i still use this job? If yes, then how do I set control my destination location, meaning pattern / section & track where I want to copy the source patch?

You want to use the “COPY TRACK” Job. It will allow you to copy specific data and move it between Patterns.
Press [PATTERN] > [JOB]

Press [F5] TRACK > JOB 01: COPY TRACK
Copy Track: Specify Pattern, Section and Track, set whether Sequencer Events, Grid Groove, Mix Part Parameters, and/or Sample data are associated and copied to the resulting destination. Use COPY TRACK when you need to 'clone' data on a specific track to a new Section (even to a new Pattern) and when you want to edit the data differently from the original. You can individually select the types of events you are copying.

This powerful job will search automatically for the lowest numbered empty User Phrase – there is no risk of overwriting existing data. This is an ideal way to clone a Phrase because there is zero risk of overwriting existing data in the target. Also you have the option of copying all or just some of the data types to the target location. Use this job specifically if you are thinking you want to keep the original, as is, and make a variation but wish to add to it or subtract from it and have a second Phrase based on the first.

Extra Credit:
At first this seems counterintuitive, you want to copy a phrase so why is it a Track Job? Then you see the bigger view, of course, a recording to a Track in Pattern mode is defined by the Section it is in. Unlike a Song Track, a Pattern Track can have 16 different recordings each, Each Section has one Phrase. Therefore, to define what it is you want to Copy, you need to define the source Pattern number, the source Section, and the Track... you then can target the Pattern, Section and Track where you now wish to use this data. Being able to specify the type of data that is copied means you can copy the ‘mix parameters’ or if you want to start totally over and create a new mix, you can opt out.
