As the MODX8 has no key bed after touch is it possible to achieve this via another keyboard e.g. MODX played through an Arturia controller that has after touch? Or is this impossible due to the MODX having no after touch option?

Yes, MODX sounds can respond to aftertouch when played from a keyboard that has it.
