Hello,
I created a pattern chain using 8 scenes. For certain parts, ARP are activated but don't behave as I would like them to, meaning they don't synchronize properly at the very first beat of scene 2 when scene 1 is over : ARP start either any beat in the first measure or at the beginning of second measure of scene 2 only.
This is the way ARP are set :
- [SYNC QUANTIZE] = 120
- [HOLD] = ON
- [CHANGE TIMING] = Measure
- [LOOP] = ON
Important notices :
- I use Assignable switch 1 (with foot pedal ), involving the scene 2 "fault start" ARP (I have to remove the pressure for the beginning of scene 2), maybe there's a link.
- Pattern chain is launched with [KEY ON START]=ON
- scene 1 includes an ARP showing no issue as launched with [KEY ON START], played pushing ASSIGN1/pedal
- Sometimes sync is correct at first beat scene 2...
Am I missing something ?
Hi Romuald,
I do not quite understand what you are doing. I will post some things that may help you better explain what you are trying to do.
When Arpeggios are assigned to Parts and you are using the Pattern Sequencer to Record... the data housed in the Arpeggio Phrase is transferred to the Pattern Track as MIDI event data. At that point we no longer refer to it as an “Arpeggio”.
Instead it is considered regular MIDI event data. Yes, it originally was an Arpeggio, but now it is documented event by event to the Track.
You can now disengage the Master Arp On/Off, because the data no longer needs to be triggered live.
Again, the data that was contained in the Arp Phrase is going to be transferred to the MIDI Track as regular MIDI events.
These being true statements... now let’s look at what you wrote:
I created a pattern chain using 8 scenes. For certain parts, ARP are activated but don't behave as I would like them to, meaning they don't synchronize properly at the very first beat of scene 2 when scene 1 is over : ARP start either any beat in the first measure or at the beginning of second measure of scene 2 only.
In order to create a Pattern Chain, the Arp Phrases are already transferred as MIDI events that are written to the PATTERN SEQ MIDI Tracks.
Once you enter Pattern RECORD with Arpeggios active, the Arp data is transferred to the Track.
You then need to turn the Master Arp On/Off switch = OFF when you are ready to playback.
If you do not, then naturally, touching the Keyboard tells the Arpeggiators to generate the assigned Arp Phrase AGAIN — this will be in addition to the MIDI events that were recorded to the Pattern sequencer.
This is the way ARP are set :
- [SYNC QUANTIZE] = 120
- [HOLD] = ON
- [CHANGE TIMING] = Measure
- [LOOP] = ON
Not possible to have a Pattern Chain active and LOOP = ON
I believe you are mistaken.
This may be referring to how you had the Arps set to behave within the Part.
But you say you created a Pattern Chain... so although that was the setting... it no longer will apply BECAUSE, you are going to turn the Master Arp On/Off = Off.
Important notices :
- I use Assignable switch 1 (with foot pedal ), involving the scene 2 "fault start" ARP (I have to remove the pressure for the beginning of scene 2), maybe there's a link.
I don’t know what this means, sorry.
- Pattern chain is launched with [KEY ON START]=ON
Any Note event starts playback. Please make sure the Master [ARP ON/OFF] = OFF before playing back the Pattern Chain. If you fail to turn it Off your touching the Key may UNNECESSARILY start an ARP Phrase.
- scene 1 includes an ARP showing no issue as launched with [KEY ON START], played pushing ASSIGN1/pedal
- Sometimes sync is correct at first beat scene 2...
Probably when you don’t touch the Keys. Touching the keys with the Master Arp On/Off can start the Arp playing.
Tip: Recording Arp Phrases to the Pattern Sequencer
Use “KeyOn Start” = On and Record “Loop” = Off
__When you have Arp Phrases assigned to any of the Parts of a Performance, the Arpeggio data will automatically be documented as MIDI events upon entering RECORD. Basically, the Phase is transferred to the sequencer. This means you no longer need to trigger them as Arpeggios. They playback just as if you had actually played the data to a Track.
In order to ensure Appsolute lay perfect timing in this process... you should make the following setting
Press [RECORD] to view the record setup screen
If a new recording you can adjust the Time Signature (it cannot be changed later)
You can adjust the TEMPO
Set the Record LENGTH
Select you Rec Type = Replace or Overdub
You should set “Key On Start” = On — this will guaranteed your first note is placed properly
You should set “Loop” = Off — this ‘Record Loop’ should be defeated (Off) when transferring Arp data to a Pattern Scene. This guarantees that the Arp Phrase plays through the “Length” once and ends before cycling back to the top.
Hello,
Sorry not to be that clear.
Actually the pattern chain is only recorded with drums and I overdub it with bass and melody.
The bass part is using ARP I would like to sync with drums but showing the issue described above. But maybe I should record bass part as you thought I did... unless you teach me how to prevent the problem I am facing ?
Thanks for your time and consideration.
