I am asking if there is a way/solution to being able to be connected and controlling an iPad soft synth (routing the audio through the MODX) and at the same time being connected to a computer and recording the audio output from the MODX (and iPad) via the built in USB interface?
To be able to control and stream audio from the iPad, I need to have a USB connection between the MODX and the iPad (MODX USB-B port to the iPad USB-A to camera adapter). This means that I no longer have access to the MODX USB-B port that would normally connect to my computer and could be used for USB recording.
Right now, I can only do one or the other, have a connection between the computer and the MODX or have a connection between the MODX and the iPad, but not both at the same time.
Maybe the use of a USB hub can cure this but I can't see how this can be done. It seems to me that it would require a splitter at the MODX USB-B port with one leg going to the computer and one leg going to the iPad.
Has anyone mastered this?
Consider using the iPad as the DAW and host the iPad instrument(s) in the DAW on the iPad.
If your computer is a Mac - you can use this guide:
https://untidymusic.com/ipad-synth/using-ipad-synth-with-reaper-or-any-other-daw
... which basically says connect the iPad to your computer (Mac) and use aggregate audio interfaces such that your iPad's output can be routed through the DAW.
"USB" and "splitter" rarely have a valid use in the same sentence.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I use a PC. I have read about similar solutions for the PC, tried it once but had no success.
FYI: Cubasis 3 (iOS DAW) is currently 50% off

Hmmm, ya. I don't want to have to work off an iPad mini.
