Hi there,

I have MODX Connect listed in the VST Instruments in the right hand panel.

I drag the MODX Connect to the left to create a new VST Instrument track.

I managed to record MIDI to this track - however I am not sure how, as I cannot seem to be able to repeat this. (MIDI is being received by Cubase as the blue bars in the bottom right corner move in response to MODX keyboard hits.)

I could not get the track to playback any sound, so I created a separate MIDI track and then just copied the afore-mentioned midi recording to the new MIDI track.

This MIDI track is on playback is sending midi data to the MODX as I can now hear the MODX performance being played (but only part 1). EDIT - I have discovered via another article that you can use "Hybrid" Mode to let the other parts sound.

I can change the performance on the MODX to listen to the track and audition different performances with that track (but only Part 1).

I seem to remember with the MX that I could call up the MX performance from within Cubase (without having to physically press buttons on the MODX) so I am guessing this should be doable on the MODX?

I guess my goal at this stage is to be able to record some midi tracks on Cubase and then be able to audition different performances using the recorded midi data.

I can see there is a way of doing this with just one part at a time, first recording part in audio and then audition 1 part at a time, but I am wondering if it's possible to change several parts at a time?

Sorry but I am even confusing myself at this time, but if anyone can offer me some guidance on using MODX Connect as against a MIDI track I would be most grateful.

thanks

Here's some info about MODX MIDI workflow with Cubase:

The whole series is certainly worth reading: https://www.yamahasynth.com/learn/modx/mastering-modx-article-series-music-synthesizer

And some MODX Connect info: https://www.yamahasynth.com/learn/events/tech-talk-montage-modx-connect

Yes it is. This is what MODX CONNECT does. It is a VST but instead of making sound it is the hardware’s representative on the computer.

The MODX CONNECT lane found in the Track area does not record or playback MIDI data. (Use a standard Cubase MIDI Track for that).

Instead it is there to capture and later, restore, whatever you setup with your MODX. Set AUTO SYNC = ON… when you SAVE your Cubase File to your computer MODX CONNECT will send a *request* to the MODX hardware… the MODX will then transmit all your settings and selections from the synth, to the computer. This data will be automatically bundled with the Cubase .CPR file… keeping everything you need for this project in the one Cubase file.

When next you open this Cubase Project MODX CONNECT will automatically restore your Performance to the synthesizer… even if you didn’t store it in the MODX.

If I save and load file it's understandable.

What is synchronize for Standalone? How it can be used?

Is it autosave?
