Hi,
I have a question about using arpeggios in performances. I want to use a lot of performances including arpeggios in my new band. The only thing that makes this difficult is that the drummer and the arpeggios are difficult to keep in sync. Do you know if you can bring these in sync, like with the Envelope Follower or Audio Beat Sync for example? See video MONTAGE Tips - Envelope Follower & Audio Beat Sync
Can someone give me tips?
Although written for the MONTAGE much of my reply below applies to the MODX (except a separate Output for the Click).

I think you will generally have more success having your drummer (real intelligence) follow the keyboard rather than the keyboard (artificial intelligence) follow the drummer.
How you ultimately accomplish this would involve some decisions and practice.

Thank you for sharing the article. I've read it and it's pretty tricky to use arpeggios in a live band. Our drumming uses a metronome to instantly drum at the right tempo. I will set the same tempo in my arpeggio performances and test what happens. I think that's the closest we can get to a good synchronization of the tempos. In addition, I can try the Audio Beat Sync to smooth out any minor differences.
Thanks again for this information π
In cases where you see acts using automated devices (arpeggios, sequencers, sample audio tracks, etc.) and it needs to work right every single time β are doing so with a proper monitoring system and much practice executing this combination. You cannot just sneak it in to your act. It is always a result of some amount effort.
If your drummer uses a click signal β see if you can share its output with the MODX. If that metronome source that the drummer uses provides MIDI feed that to your MODX, If it has an audio output you can feed to the MODX send that to the A/D In. This way you ensure your arp and tempo related MODX functions concur with the drummerβ¦ everyone else can follow you two.
It becomes childβs play when everyone can hear.
It becomes a sometimes proposition when monitoring is not involved.
