Hi there,
I copied a bunch of .wav files onto my USB stick and connected to my MODX.
The files show up under the Utility / Load page.
Background: I am wanting to use the waveform just for an ambient sound to the start of a performance so I set about creating a new performance via "Init Drum" as I know you can play a one shot file via this method. I created the file in Cubase by snipping from an .mp3 and then doing an audio mixdown to a .wav file.
I go to replace the initial snare waveform with my audio sample however after I select New Waveform and then the waveform I want it comes up as "illegal file".
I tried this on the other waveforms which I have just added to the USB and get the same message.
The other files came from various other waveform libraries which may have come with Cubase VSTs or other VSTs I have downloaded.
When I select a waveform that is actually a recording I have done on the MODX itself, that of course , works.

Works for me with standard .wav files.
I suspect your 'wav' file has a format issue.
Hi Andrew,
Not sure what you mean by a "standard" .wav file - the files played OK on my computer.
However I did find out via another forum that the files samples need to be "16-bit" - and that seems to have sorted out my issue.
thanks
This is what the FAQ advertises as supported formats:
Audio file: .WAV (44.1 kHz/24 bit/Stereo or 44.1 kHz/16 bit/Stereo)
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
Ok thanks Jason - I'll remember that so as to not waste to much time converting in future...
