Hi,
please help me create this awesome FM sound:
https://youtu.be/6se4NDntoAk?t=195
It sounds similar to soprano sax and is played on DX7 II. I believe it can be created on MODX using several FM elements. I also have DX7 MKI (1983). Maybe it comes from DX7 II factory presets. Does anyone recognize the patch? I'd really like to have this particular patch. Unfortunately none of MODX internal sounds are close.
Thanks a lot

This one I can get to:

It's sampled I believe in this rendition (you can see the keyboard it's played on).
The original studio cut featured Wayne Shorter on soprano sax.

I am sorry. I can view the video, probably different country.
I am interested in FM sound only.
Let's try another link of the same performance:

Hope it's working 🙂
Thank you.
It's working. Although maybe a sax could be programmed on the DX7 that sounds like that (there's not one in the Montage/MODX that has the benefit of effects not previously available in the DX7). However, also consider that the DX7 could be used only as a MIDI controller to another tone generator to create the synth sound.
I see VH1 in the lower-right. Perhaps this is from the "Storytellers" recording at Hollywood Center Studios, Los Angeles on Feb 19th, 2000 (or program aired on that date).
That would define a certain range of possibilities for the source of the sound heard on this recording. Which would be much more than DX7 internal sounds (including custom).
BTW: the link I gave before happens to be in 2000 (May 25th). So in approximately the same timeframe - "Inside Job" concert.
