Hi renato, No, that is not normal. What else do you have connected to the MODX? You may have a ground noise issue.

You should listen to your MODX in stereo. A large part of the sonic magic that you can get from the MODX’s “Motion Control Synthesis Engine” has to do with movement of the sound — this is achieved by connecting the MODX in stereo.

For testing purposes, concerning the buzzing noise:
Connect your headphones directly to the the MODX’s “Phones” jack on the back panel.
Do you still hear the buzzing noise?

If yes, let us know.
If no, then you need to check on the method of connecting the MODX to the MG mixer.

Which MG mixer are you using?
You want to connect both MODX Left and Right Outputs to your MG.
You will use either the Stereo Input Channel for L/R or if using two separate channels, you want to be able to Pan one hard left and the other hard right.
You definitely want to maintain the Stereo path. You want to ensure you are using the proper unbalanced signal cables (TS, Tip-Sleve)... the wrong type of cable can cause buzzing; a bad or broken cable can cause noise; and of course, buzzing can be a simple ground issue.

Reasons:
You have two ears... which helps us determine the direction a sound is coming from. This is a very heightened sense in the human animal. Our ear and brain can identify literally billions of different sounds based on identifying markers like harmonic content, direction, duration, etc., etc. part of what makes enjoyable and endearing is the full experience of sound. And part of that is the directionality and the sense of being in an acoustic environment with the signal sources. Stereo is an important part of recreating that spatial orientation.

With the effect processing, and high quality signal path available in today’s MONTAGE and MODX synths, it is a shame to have them degraded by reducing them to MONO, and allowing an unwanted buzzing noise into the system.

If the buzzing is ground hum, you can eliminate this. But first check your connections between the synth and the mixer.

Let us know.

Never use a “Y” cable... in most audio problems it is rarely the correct solution.

You want two TS (Tip-Sleeve) cables, one for the Left, the other for the Right.
On your MG06 use channels 3/4 or channels 5/6, as these are your unbalanced Stereo inputs.

Let us know.

I connected the headphones directly to the Modx Phones input and it seems that the noise has disappeared. At this point I think it's just a cable problem. Thanks Dad Mister
