Hi,
New owner of MODX8 here. Very, very nice sounds!

I have just loaded X7Lfile ("Motif XF Performaces" from Yamaha website). I noticed that all Parts of all Preformances are "NO ASSIGN".

Is that correct?
All is playing correctly.

Thank you in advance.

That is correct. The MOTIF XF PERFORMANCE data are of a type where as many as four Parts are combined into a simultaneously controllable program, and each Part is set as a separate instrument. These programs often use multiple Arpeggios to create a rhythm section backing. The Category System is not used on this converted data. The primary purpose of these programs when converted and loaded into the MODX, would be to build upon and store your own custom versions. It is at that time you can determine how you wish to categorize them.

The Motif XF had but two Assign Knobs per Part, it had no ‘Super Knob’ (a Knob capable of addressing all Parts simultaneously) and it had but six Control Sets (Source/Destination) assignments per Part.
The MODX has eight Assign Knobs per Part plus a Super Knob that Controls eight Knobs linkable to Control any Part, and sixteen Control Sets (Source/Destination) assignments per Part. Plus you can actually add an additional four Parts (each with its own eight Knobs, links to the Super Knob, and each with their own 16 Control Sets!)

Therefore, it is assumed you will want to take this data and use it as ‘well programmed’ starting points on which to base your own customized versions... where you change them a little or a lot, according to your needs/requirements. The MODX has so many more programming options - so you can view what were “finished” programs in the XF as programs that are really just ‘getting started’ in the MODX.

The Motif XF Wave ROM and Voice data for the backbone of the data found in the MODX. All 1350+ Voices are found as Single Part MODX Performances, and all 7891 Arpeggio phrases are found among the MODX’s 10,239 Arps. What’s new is all of the new ways to control that data. Each week new articles and tutorials arrive here on YamahaSynth - look for future articles on how to add the new functions to the Motif XF data... with 6 additional Knobs per Part and 10 additional controller assignments available per Part... not mention the ability to control functions across the eight Parts under KBD CTRL in real-time; you’ll find that this data is a great way learn about the new MOTION CONTROL features and expand on what the very powerful Motif XF could do.

Currently active series starts with some basic... Super Knob programming:
Mastering MODX: Super Knob Common

Learning to explore the Presets can be a great way to learn - however, the programming depth available in the MODX can make this challenging. The tutorial examples, are especially simplified as teaching/learning tools... focusing in in on just the basic concept. And then expands outward to more, and more complex programming skills. Thank you Bad Mister for your so vast response. And taking the advantege thank you for all your responses on the forum. Recently I've red this one about FC3A pedal (I also own this one). Really very helpful.

I'm following these tutorials and yes it is challenging for me. No one promised it would be easy. And just downloading CubaseAI.
