So I lost the original pa130-B power supply for the MODX recently; when I went to replace it I saw that the pa130 is supposed to work just fine. Had one of those laying around already I just switched it out, which worked fine for a little while but it recently started to distort the sound like it's underpowered. I turned it off immediately to avoid damaging anything (further?)... I know both seem to be rated for 1.5 amps but not sure what else would've caused this. Is there anything else that might do this?

The MODX uses a PA150 (not a PA130).

A Yamaha PA150. Do not use a PA130 — Do not use a PA130...

PA130 outputs 12V @ 1.0A
PA150 outputs 12V @ 1.5A

Both have center as positive.

Coming up 500mA under budget, your PA130 is likely not able to supply the higher load required by MODX when it (the PA130) was designed for a lower load and has a different set of supported devices.
