Hi,
I need to create a click track for our drummer.

As there is no additional output in MODX and also I have many performances with no room to add dedicated tracks with arpeggios (because the performances already occupies all first 8 tracks) then looks like the best way for me is to play MIDI notes using Audition button to external MIDI device.

While I already have MIDI channels occupied for devices chained to the MIDI output, I set MIDI channel 13 to be dedicated of the click track.
I recorded the MIDI file (making sure only channel 13 was set to 'On' during recording) and applied it to the audition button for few performances and it worked fine at the beginning.

But then something strange happen, after changing scenes in some performances suddenly the MIDI notes started to be outputted to two channels: 13 and 16. I have no idea where channel 16 came from (channel 16 is not set in the global MIDI settings). I thought it is because I have channel 16 already used for one of the tracks as an active zone but the issue still continued even if I change that zone to a different channel.

I did make sure the midi file contains only MIDI channel 13 notes, I even edited it on my PC and imported it back to the MODX (and did "Update User Auditions" where needed). The problem still goes on.

If I turn the machine off and then back on and then select the performances then it works fine. The problem happens only after changing some scenes.
Furthermore, the following use-case happens:
- Turn MODX On
- Select Performance A - Audition works fine (notes on channel 13).
- Select Performance B - Audition works fine (notes on channel 13).
- Change scenes while in performance B - Audition works wrongly (notes on channels 13 and 16).
- Select Performance A - Audition works wrongly (notes on channels 13 and 16) even if I didn't change any scenes.
So something happens here in the global scope memory.

Any idea how I can resolve this?
Why Audition button plays two MIDI tracks instead of a single channel (13)?

Thank you for any assistance 🙂

When you edited the file on the PC - was there anything you noticed on CH16 that you took out? I am led to believe there was since you went through the effort of trying to update the audition with the new edited file.

I would change the pattern enough so you can hear a difference and know for certain that the new file is being updated. Like change from quarter to half notes or something else that stands out for you. Maybe different notes on each beat. This is all just to confirm that the audition did indeed change and now has whatever other edits updated on the Performance(s).
