Why is the MODX so much more expensive in the U.S. than in the U.K.?

Was rather surprised (to put it mildly) to find out that you can get the MODX8 in the U.K. for £1099.00 ($1400 US) regularly, and on Black Friday for £989.00 ($1280) US.

Here in the U.S. it is $2000 everywhere (thanks to the $100 price increase) with no Black Friday sales.

What's the deal? 🙁

Currently seeing £1244 at a random UK site. $1622USD which is roughly 15% off. I was able to find 15% off deals during various sales here in the states if I was in the market for a MODX.

... not sure if this is "Black Friday" pricing on the random UK site or not. The site says it's a discount.

... but I've seen these kind of questions in the forum before. The usual answer is "because".
