Been absent for awhile working on day job issues, but now back into music and seriously thinking about buying a Montage. But after an hour trying to find the answer to the following questions, I can't and so here I am:

1. What is new in Version 1.2?
2. Where is the download site for Montage manuals? I would like to look over a manual before making a purchase. I had a former download site that worked fine, but now it is gone and nothing is showing up via a google search.

Thanks in advance.

Google Yamaha Montage Update......

Better yet, here's the link.

http://download.yamaha.com/search/product/?site=usa.yamaha.com&language=en&category_id1=16244&category_id2=16381&category_id3=&product_id=2166246

Click on version 1.2 update, it will tell you the fixes and improvements. Manual is there too.

Note that the v1.20 filesize is larger than the previous firmware filesize because v1.20 includes manual updates that are specific to changes v1.20 brings. One of those manuals (montage_en_nf_b0.pdf - assuming english) is the "new features" document which details v1.20 changes and how to use these features. I do not see the "new features" document as a separate document that can be download apart from the firmware - so you'll want to download the firmware and crack open the ZIP file to review the document. The updated data list is also contained within the v1.20 firmware update (rev C0) which is currently only available in the zip file (not as a separate file). This is probably not as critical to download - but you could review rev B0 vs. C0 of the data list if you want to be thorough.

At some point, there will also be some new articles and/or blog entries addressing some of the new features (such as user arps) as reported by Yamaha. Already, there's a great set of articles which cover the basic "new stuff" that Montage brings vs. the Motif.

Reach these by clicking on "Articles" on the header (top line to right of "YAMAHA Synth" on this web page) and scroll through the pages to find all the content. The cubase and other articles are there, but further back are the articles which deal with Motion Control, Motion Sequences, Super Knob, etc.

Even after reviewing all of that information - keep in mind that there are features which have not been "rolled out" yet which include a form of Soundmondo support - some form of librarian or offline editor (even if from a 3rd party) - and the ??? (possibly other features or fixes via firmware). I can only speculate as to how long the firmware support will be as great as we have seen thus far.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
