Hello - Montage is an extraordinary machine, and my synth of choice for creating and manipulating sound - BUT -
I have been conducting a number of (time consuming) experiments in an attempt to find a chink in Montage's armour against owners selecting what material to place into (and take out of) the protective custody of a Library File.
There are none. Whatever you want to do is ignored, and ALL User files (including unassigned files and Favourites) are swept into one untidy heap as a Library, unless you go through the tedious routine of selecting the ones you want out of a possible 640 - BUT - it is not possible to add to a Library nor take away from a Library, which negates the exercise.
It takes a while to realise how annoying and clumsy this is to those who edit, layer, blend, create, and manipulate sounds. So my appeal to Yamaha is to introduce an update that will allow the owner to select what material to place into the protective custody of a Library, and place ONLY that material into the Library. It would be nice to be able to add to or take away from a Library, but given the choice of material, the existing method of converting the entire Library to User, and then switching back to Library with the addition (or subtraction) becomes much more workable.
Thank you for listening ...
I'd very much like to see this as well. You can load a library then choose what you want to copy to the user area, so why not have the ability to select what you want to save to a library from the contents of the user area?
At the moment I get round it by backing everything up, saving the user area to a library file, wiping the user area, loading the library I just created, loading the performances / waveforms / whatever I want in the new library, saving the new library then restoring the original user area contents. Which is rather time consuming when all I want to do is put a couple of performances in a library to share with someone else.

(as per discussion on numerous other threads on this forum)

after a almost a year with this synth - it IS becoming more than tedious, and as politely as I can I have to say it is a major PITA,
I will pay it forward and say Thanks Yamaha for making this file system change
