Need better understanding about this, for example "Guitar" -sub cat...rock/pop and jazz/world, there aren't any listings and this appears to be in other places where you would expect something. I didn't get Bad Mister's explanation regarding what you had selected on performance screen, then going to cat search can get you a complete replacement, What's that about?

If the cursor highlights the Performance name when you hit [CATEGORY SEARCH] you will be searching for a Performance.
If the cursor highlights a Part name when you hit [SHIFT] + [CATEGORY SEARCH] you will be searching for a Part
If the cursor highlights an empty slot ( "+" ) when you hit [CATEGORY SEARCH] you will be searching for a Performance to "Merge" with the current Performance.

See the article on Using CATEGORY SEARCH for all the details.

Not all Categories have Performances yet, stay tuned as Yamaha typically adds new data to their synths via firmware updates.

Kind of a tangent (at least related) - but fact that Guitar as main-category and Jazz/World as sub-category is not currently used - you could, until Yamaha firmware catches up and reassigns performances to these main/sub categories - "cannibalize" (or "squat") this main/sub category as what you assign as a "Favorite" list for your user performances. Then an "all" list of Guitar+Jazz/World or Guitar+Rock/Pop will only show your user performances. And perhaps if you have a set of rock or pop cover tunes, you can use the more appropriate sub-category vs. your dinner music (jazz) and also there use that category.

Just trying to "spin" this as a feature in terms of today's firmware release.

Since I do see Yamaha looking at the value of a "favorite" assignment for performances - there may be another method in the future and this may coincide with Yamaha moving more preset performances into a more appropriate sub-category assignment. So (if this speculative event occurs) then you'd have two reasons to go in and modify your main/sub categories to align with the new "favorite" feature (to both use the favorites and also avoid clouding your filtered list with presets now moved to Guitar+Pop/Rock and Guitar+Jazz/World).

Not a spoiler, really, it's already happened in the past (1.02 > 1.10). Just a reminder to those folks who, for whatever reason, don't believe in updating firmware. You not only miss out on new features, and bug fixes, but you can miss out on new sounds.

Bad Mister, I read your tutorial regarding Cat Search. Very useful and important info. You didn't say what wold happen if you did not highlight the performance name, There are two situations regarding the performance or Home page. 1, the home page without touching the performance name and 2, When the performance name is touched and becomes highlighted, the latter state is where you start your tutorial but, didn't mention the results of the former- maybe they are the same?

If you press the [PERFORMANCE (HOME)] button the highlight automatically frames the name. Always.

Yes, so what is the outcome, in category search, when you "touch" the performance name-which causes a search box to pop-up on the left- same results? Yes. It is a feature that you've mentioned a few times where ...in most cases what you access from panel button presses can also be found ON-SCREEN and vise-versa.

Pressing buttons [PERFORMANCE] (HOME) then [CATEGORY SEARCH] is the same as:

Pressing [PERFORMANCE] (HOME) button first, then using the touchscreen to touch the performance name at the top of the touchscreen which, in turn, brings up the left-hand popup menu which includes "Search" as an option. Then using the touchscreen to touch "Search".
