I have created a performance with two parts using two presets, and have split the keyboard where I want the two parts. How do I change the octave settings for each of the parts (without affecting the original presets)?
Thank you.
Press [EDIT]
Press PART SELECT [1/1] to view Part 1 parameters
Touch the COMMON indicator in the lower left of the screen
Touch "Part Settings"
Touch "Pitch"
Set the NOTE SHIFT parameter for Part 1
Press PART SELECT [2/2] to view Part 2 parameters
"Part Settings" > "Pitch" > NOTE SHIFT for Part 2
Press [STORE]
Thank you very much. I was looking for the word "octave" somewhere, which is used in other Yamaha synths.
To those reading this post, if you want to lower the performance by an octave (or whatever), press the '-' key on the keypad that pops up.
Thanks again.
In the Motif XS-performance, note shift is limited to +/-24. Sometimes I'd like to have parts, tones or samples at the extreme left or right side of the keyboard. Then +/-24 can be insufficient. I know XS-work arrounds but what is the max. note shift in the Montage?

The words Transpose and Note Shift are used to define two similar but different functions on Yamaha keyboards.
Transpose refers to key change accomplished by changing the *transmitting* device, be it the Keyboard or a Track's data.
Note Shift refers to the key change accomplished by changing the "receiving" tone engine.
If you have a SPLIT setup and you TRANSPOSE, the split point on the keyboard physically moves.
If you have a SPLIT setup and you NOTE SHIFT the Parts, the split point remains physically at the same point physically on the keyboard..
If you TRANSPOSE it will affect devices connected OUT via MIDI
If you NOTE SHIFT it will NOT affect devices connected via MIDI.
Make sense. This is consistent in Yamaha keyboards for as long as I can remember.
