Copying FX & Super Knob settings from one performance to another

I would like to apply the FX routing, SK assignment etc from the CFX Concert to the Imperial Grand Piano performance.

Is there a way to accomplish this, other than writing down all of the settings from the CFX Concert and then manually adjusting to those settings in the Imperial Grand Piano?

I don't know if this would work, but perhaps you could start with CFX Concert and then replace its Parts with the Parts from Imperial Grand Piano. It seems possible to me, in my naïve ignorance :), that doing this might preserve the features of CFX Concert that you're trying to replicate.

Actually, there are some parameters that can be copied but others that cannot. You can COPY an Element or a PART you have created from one program to another or to a slot in the same program. But Super Knob assignments, for example, are not copied between programs - they are too deeply woven into the architecture of each construction. When you COPY an Element from one place to another it will likely occupy a different PART number, the PART assignment numbers and parameter assignments would conflict immediately.

What you can do:
You will find that the two pianos (CFX Concert and the Imperial Grand Piano) are built from a similar programming template... where they are both using the Super Knob, for example, to change the virtual position of the listener. From a small room where you are up close to the piano (Super Knob at minimum)... to a huge hall where you are in the back row (Super Knob at maximum). This is accomplished by simultaneously adjusting Cutoff, Reverb Time and Reverb Send amounts, etc., in such a way as we actually feel the piano in a continuously variable environment as the Super Knob is moved farther from the start point.

In response to your question we have put together a short article that takes you through "how to explore" the upper level Assign Knob (Super Knob) settings, and the individual PART Assignable Knob parameter settings of these two acoustic pianos. Because you will find that to COPY is not necessarily what you need (the structures are different enough) - you need a way to change the dynamics of what the Super Knob is controlling.

The "CFX Concert" is in a much more reasonably sized Concert Hall as you increase the Super Knob, while the "Imperial Grand Piano" is in a much larger space. It is the simultaneous manipulation of both Reverb Time (how long the reverberation signal hangs in the air) and Reverb Send amount (the amount from the individual PART) along with the appropriate change in how diffuse the sound becomes in tone as you 'move' farther away (accomplished with the Filter Cutoff, and High Frequency Gain in the EQ (in CFX Concert) ... Both include direct access to the "VCM EQ 501" not linked to the Super Knob but accessible via PART SELECT - allowing the user to detail either piano sound throughout its multiple velocity ranges.

We will post the Assignable Knob Study shortly - hopefully it will help you to explore and tweak the pianos to your liking.

+1 Chris.. That would be a useful feature for me also.. I could imagine myself creating a group of sounds using the same template automating the control parameters the way I'd use them and then tweak to taste ..
