Do you guys think that Yamaha could include a AN or a VL Synthesis to enhance the AMW2 or FM-X engine?!

Look guys let’s be real the Yamaha EX5 is ahead of its time! It’s 20+ and has more than what the Montage could offer. Yes less powerful but 4 engines>>>2. Also Yamaha did a poor job with the pianos, the EPs and the Organs. Although the EPs has great 3rd party Libraries so I could care less about the EPs, and the organ has organamation as well but the Pianos are just ??‍♂️. With VL synthesis you can add modelled Damper Resonance, String Resonance and a little bit more depth, width To give it that open dynamic sounds same with the EPs as well. We can also customize to the sound we want as well with VL

The kinds of questions the R&D team was asking a year or so ago implies it can be done.

For a lot of reasons, the EX was a bit of an anomaly. The EX also had limitations - and the underlying DNA/architecture of today is not a huge departure due to an evolutionary approach. Hopefully if an engine is added the resource juggling is done in a more satisfactory manner.

FWIW, Paul from Sand Software Sound believes that it is not possible. To summarize, he states that the Montage/MODX DSP chips (SWP70) appear to be tailor-made for AWM2 and FM. If this is not correct, it would seem to be an interesting development in our understanding of the underlying architecture.

The questions could have been aimed at the successor. The survey questions do not exist anymore - so I have to rely on memory.
