In the 1.75 Gb flash memory of Montage each user can upload their own samples libraries, created for example with Melas Motif Waveform Editor software.
With mono samples 16bit and SR=44.100 Hz , in 1.75 Gb, it is possible to load mono samples with a total duration of 20317 seconds (338,6 min= 5,6 hours). Half for stereo samples.
In some samples library Yamaha uses some proprietary samples loseless audio compression, maybe their 16-bit LPC (linear predictive coding) algorithm.
Some examples:
Chick's Mark V; Compressed 423.5 MB Linear data = 1.1 GB - Ratio 1:2,59
MONTAGE Expanded; Compressed 172 MB Linear data = 345 MB - Ratio 1:2,0
Why does yamaha not provide a tool , a software to process the uncompressed libraries in compressed libraries? I think that a lot of users, and I among them, would be ready to pay a reasonable amount for this possibility. Leave this possibility only a few "elected" I think it's a bad closure to the various users who have believed and believe in this fantastic synt 😀 I'd like to hear the opinions of other users
Yamaha hasn't let users compress samples in the past and give the compression tools to commercial sampling partners. Doesn't hurt to ask. Doubt sample robot will help but we'll see.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
I think the first real partners are those who bought Montage 😀 😮
