Loving the full function ESP. So many ways ESP has improved workflow and creative options, fantastic game changer!

Anyone have insights one when there will be an AAX version for Pro Tools? I would love to see that happen. Blake or anyone at Yamaha, big plug for ESP AAX!

In the meantime, here are workarounds for anyone interested. I’ve had good luck running ESP in Pro Tools in Bluecat, VST wrapper. Pro Tools has to be in native mode, not Rosetta, for ESP to work in Bluecat. DDMF Metaplugin also works similarly, just not as easy to use, and Bluecat seems a little more stable and efficient. Vienna Ensemble Pro also works but is the most cumbersome option since you have to save an external template for that and you get a little extra latency. So, for me, Bluecat is the best option until we get an AAX version, pretty stable, no noticeable latency issues, and pretty easy to use from workflow standpoint. Any other tips? Pass it along!

I'm afraid that E.S.P. will only be available as a VST.  Steinberg developed VST for plugins, and Yamaha owns Steinberg, so I would think they'd want their new Soft Synth plugin written only as a VST for their Cubase DAW.  And since it would likely be extra cost to write it for the competition in AAX as well as to maintain/develop it, I think they will just provide the VST version only, and others can use Bluecat with Pro Tools in native mode as a workaround.  Basically, I don't think they will go out of their way (or absorb the costs) to do extra development in order to make it easier to use their new soft synth as a plugin on other DAWs preferred formats.

I'm 100% a Pro Tools guy as well, but I have a Montage classic, so I haven't had the luxury of dealing with E.S.P. VST compatibility issues.  If I had the money to trade up to an M8x I would gladly do so... 😉
