You will only be able to do an audio mix down if there are audio tracks in your Cubase project.

Hi Dubi,

Depending on the version of Cubase you are using will determine whether or not you can render MIDI tracks via EXPORT AUDIO MIXDOWN. As Phil mentions above only audio (and virtual audio routed) tracks can be mixed down to audio wav files using the EXPORT > AUDIO MIXDOWN routine.

This type of MIDI-to-Audio rendering can be done by setting up the Montage as an External Instrument.
In Cubase Pro 8 go to DEVICES > VST CONNECTIONS > select the EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT tab.
Advanced routing through this External Instrument setup allows Cubase Pro MIDI tracks to be routed back to the Montage which "returns" audio via a special VST Audio Lane. This "audio lane" can be used to render the track to audio via Export > Audio Mixdown.

What version of Cubase are you using?

If you are not using Cubase Pro, let us know. The path to creating audio tracks is slightly different.
