I have tried to download the latest firmware for my Montage 8. The download only shows PDF files. Anyone know where the firmware update is located?
Thanks
How to find your download data:
If you are looking for items for the Montage (for example)...
In the USA, you would go to the country portal:
Select PRODUCTS > "Synthesizers & Music Production Tools" > "Synthesizers" > select "Montage" and click on "DOWNLOADS"
Now everything concerning the Motif XF shows up in one place
Hi, thanks for the reply. Your link took me to the same place I tried downloading the update from before. I clicked on the 1.51 update and downloaded it. When I open the download on my Mac, it is PDF files for what looks like the owners manual.
Not sure where Yamaha has the updater hidden 🙁
Sorry for any confusion. The download should include several PDFs (these are the New Feature Supplemental Manual in 12 languages), there are two READ ME files which are the instructions for the use of the firmware update file (Japanese and English). The actual updater file is ultimately for the Montage. It is named 8N70OS_.PGM
It is this file you must unzip and move to the root directory of a USB stick and install to the Montage by powering On - holding the two front panel buttons as outlined in the READ ME file.
Let us know... the entire download should be 96.9MB
I just verified the above.

So when you extract this ZIP file, look under a sub-directory "montage151" for the .PGM file.

The 8N700s file is in my downloads. Thanks! Now, I can not get my Mac with Mavericks to unzip the file. Right clicking on it does nothing. Double clicking opens a window that says I need to choose an application to unzip the file.
I have Googled how to unzip a file on a Mac and no help there.
Any idea how I may unzip the file?
Thank you!
Your computer cannot do anything with the 8N70OS_.PGM file, simply COPY it from your Dowloads area to a USB stick's root directory.
Take the USB stick and plug it into the TO DEVICE port on your Montage, then Power on the Montage while holding down the two buttons as instructed.

Simply double (left) click and OSX will exgtract the all the files from the zip file to a folder. Sorry, now I see that it asks you for a program. That is strange. OSX has built in tools for extracting zipped files. Try unrarX. It is a shareware app. Just google for it and you will see where to download it from. There are quite a few extracting apps for osx/macos.

Thanks! I will try unrarX

This is correct. I had been told that I needed to unzip the file first.
Sorry it that was unclear, you should unzip the zip file that you download. not the file itself. once you unzip the folder there you get pdf files with instructions and the firmware update file which has to be put on the usb stick as described before.

Replace the "project.rar" file in the video with the ".zip" file you download from Yamaha as the extractor works for ZIP files the same as it works for RAR.
There's lots of videos of how to unzip files.
Some say you just double click the file and it happens without installing anything. Some say this doesn't work. There's a solution out there and search engines or youtube can help you.
