Trying to get my mind around using my Montage in conjunction with my Saffire 40 audio interface for recording into cubase.

What is the most efficient and easiest way to record both Yamaha montage output as well as my vocals through my Saffire 40 audio interface and preamp?

As far as I can tell, since montage doesn’t have digital out (like my motif xs did) it seems unless I want to record montage as analog audio, I must switch the cubase driver each time depending on which source I want to record?

So in other words to capture the montage digitally I would need to select montage as my audio interface in cubase and use the usb connection, but when I want to capture my vocals I have to switch the audio interface back to my saffire 40? Meaning so cannot record them simultaneously? Is this correct?

I’m hoping I have this wrong and I don’t need to switch back-and-forth between audio interfaces in cubase while tracking.

Maybe.

If you have a Mac - then an aggregate device may work https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202000

If you have Windows, then ASIO4ALL or Voicemeeter may work. I haven't checked lately to see if there's an alternative to Voicemeeter.

There's not much, for windows, that gives you the flexibility of using all 32 digital output channels (from Montage) the "same" way you can from the native drivers. Most of my experimentation was on the single L/R channel level (digital).

Ok so I got an aggregate device setup and can monitor both device inputs in Cubase. Cool! Only problem is, when I am monitoring montage in Cubase, there is a massive amount of latency (far more than 9ms) when I strike a key. I am monitoring with my headphones via my audio device. Any fix for this that you know of? Thanks!
