How Do I Save an Edited Performance?

When I edit a performance (like change the EQ) I hit "SAVE" and it says to "Store As New Performance" which is not what I want to do.

So how do I just SAVE over the edited performance?

Thanks!

you can't, all the performances, when Montage came from store, are Preset, so U must save in a new performance that became USER performance, this USER performance can be edited and saved in the same location.

Ah! So, I just did this and and I called it "CFX Concert EQ" However, it is 5 pages down on the Bank/Favorite, Sub ALL, Piano Category.

If not, is there a way to move a performance to the top next to the other CFX Pianos? I do see a "Sort by Name" which is pretty good, but my Favorites are no alphabetical and have to scroll down and find them. If would be nice to place them where you want.

Thanks

You have options.

1) Forget about [CATEGORY SEARCH] when looking for your important performances and instead store them in the Live Set. This is what I do. At a gig I never use [CATEGORY SEARCH] unless we're playing some song, by request, that we never have played before (has no performance I've set up). This is theoretical since I have performances for most everything including generic string/e-piano/etc parts.

2) Use a filter - like Favorites. Here you first have to setup which performances you deem as "favorite". This will be saved. Then, within [CATEGORY SEARCH] - switch the "Bank/Favorite" filter to "Favorite". Then only the performances with the "Favorite" icon will be displayed.

3) Use a filter - like "User" bank. Same place in [CATEGORY SEARCH] as selecting "Favorite". You can get here as a shortcut by pressing the [CATEGORY SEARCH] button twice. Or [CATEGORY SEARCH] long hold (to force "Preset") then pressing again. Even "Favorite" you can do this way but need to press [CATEGORY SEARCH] more times.

4) Rename so your performances show up earlier in a sorted list.

Due to personal bias, I would strongly suggest using live set.

Placing Performances in places where “you want” is the role of the LIVE SET.

The MONTAGE comes with 2044 Factory Performances, and 0 out of 640 USER Bank Performances. As you create or edit and store your own versions of the Presets, you store them the MONTAGE’s User Performance Bank. Each one stored goes to the lowest numbered empty location in the User Bank.

Placing a Performance in a User LIVE SET location is not really doing anything but creating a surrogate that you can place in the order you desire. The actual Performance it is referencing, remains where it is.

This way you can create your own Performances - each would be STORED in the User Bank. Your LIVE SET would simply be a way to view these Performances in the order you would like to place them.

They use up next to no memory because, again, they are just pointing to the Performance data wherever it is located. You can customize your USER LIVE SET so it is in any order you wish.

Definitely use [CATEGORY SEARCH] only when you are looking for the original Performance data, because you cannot “Category Search” for your LIVE SET Performance, per se, you would be searching for the data that the Live Set is referencing.

How to create a User LIVE SET
If you want “CFX Concert” as the first item in your Live Set, Use [CATEGORY SEARCH] to locate it.
Go to the HOME screen
Press [SHIFT] + [LIVE SET]
You will be taken to the lowest numbered location in your User 1, Page 1 Live Set area... a flashing white box outlines the empty location. Tap that box to create a link to the CFX Concert... you can now give it a nickname, color code it, store a new volume setting.

There are eight User Banks, each Bank having 16 Pages, each Page having 16 slots.

So you can use this area to put your sounds in order, if you return to “CFX Concert” as your tenth Program there no need to remember to go back to slot 1, you have enough Live Set slots to repeat as often as necessary. Simply duplicate CFX Concert in slot 10.

Think of Live Sets as a long set list. It does not use up a lot of memory because a Live Set slot only contains a pointer to the actual data, a volume offset, a color code, and a short nickname you can give it... for example, the “CFX Concert” in slot 1 might be nicknamed “My Solo” and be stored with a volume of 120 and color coded RED; while the “CFX Concert” in slot 10 might be nicknamed “Misty” and stored at a volume offset to 103, and color coded BLUE for ballads.

You can make up your own rules... and place your sounds in any order you desire... then you can advance through your set list by using a Foot Switch set to “LIVE SET+”
