I purchased a Montage 8 synth and do not understand how to use arpeggio patterns in a performance live set, especially when playing with a live band on stage. I somewhat understand how to set up different arp patterns in scenes, but I do not understand how to add other sounds to play along with these different patterns when on stage with a band. I don't understand how to use these patterns and not step on other instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, etc. Your help with this would be greatly appreciated!
First off - "Live Set" doesn't make arpeggio patterns any different. "Live Set" is just a set of shortcuts to your Performances. All of the work for getting arpeggios setup is within a Performance. Once you have the Performance setup like you want - with ARPs, scenes, etc - then you can elect to add a Live Set pointer to this Performance if you want.
It sounds like the meat of your question is how do you program your ARPs so the ARPs do not interfere with your drummer, bassist, etc. That goes somewhat into being a producer - deciding what sounds and ranges your ARPs will use. That's more artistic than technical.
Do you know how to search for ARPs that are pre-programmed and use them to control your sounds? If you have trouble finding one that fits - do you need to program your own custom ARP? Are you having problems with that? There are tutorials out there in several parts to follow if you need to learn about creating ARPs.
What have you tried thus far - in more detail - and why is that not working for you?

Please this post Drum Arps in MONTAGE for a discussion of using Tempo driven content in a band situation.
How you select what Arpeggio Phrases would be appropriate for your band, is one only you can answer. You might add a percussionist via Arpeggio. You might add horn riffs at a key moment in the arrangement. You might use Arpeggio Phrases to fill in for any musical Part your band may be lacking. Or it can be used to play an incredibly difficult run that you would rather trigger than attempt to play “live”.
You can use it throughout the Song, or in specific situations. But as the post points out, if you are going to use any tempo driven functions, and have them work, you must respect the current tempo... which to me means “the conductor” function is in play and which everyone must be prepared to respect!
Thanks so much for your responses! My main issue is how to search for pre-programmed Arps and using them to control my sounds. I have the Sudosonic videos, but they don't go into enough depth on how to use the patterns to control my sounds. The Arp videos on the Yamaha synth site has English subtitles and it is hard to process reading and watching what the person is doing on the screen. Thanks for any further help you can give.
I’m not really sure how you are thinking about using Arps... but one-way they can be used is to build a chord intelligent “rhythm section” backing, which you can control with left hand chords that the “instruct” the bass/chord accompaniment, while you play lead in the right hand. This is one way to use Arps...
Much like there is a “search” for Performances and Performance Parts, there is “Search” for Arp Phrases. There are two views of the Arp assignments. Since there are 8 Arpeggiators available simultaneously, so each of the 8 KBD CTRL Parts could have its own. There are 8 different Arp Phrases that can be associated with each Performance.. There is a view that show you what Arp Phrase is playing for each individual Part for the current Arp Select, 1-8. There is also a per Part view so you can view the 8 Phrases assigned to the Part.
In the “MONTAGifying Motif XF” we use the Motif XF Performances as starting points and study how we can build on them. Perhaps this will help... each of the articles is accompanied by a MONTAGE CONNECT download used in the article.
This one introduces Arp Play FX and some more advanced features:
“Smooth Guitar”
In the next (series) we start out with a 4 Part Performance. Drums (Arp), Bass (Arp), E.Piano (Split left), Sax (Split right)
We start to add a new instrument with each article and show how you might go about building and programming. Using Arps and Scenes in more advanced ways... switching lead sounds, morphing lead sounds, etc., etc.
