If it's not too late before production in May, I suggest the engineering geniuses who created the Montage should be able to ADD in a pattern/song sequencer without eliminating or replacing anything else. Some of us, like me, are not going to use a computer with a keyboard/workstation. We are not old school, we like everything the Montage offers, but it is a preference for simplicity and focusing on one do everything product- as we already have with the XF.

I understand that the Montage sequencer is a space age version of the Performance Record of the XF. But I do not want to and am not going to transfer a Montage performance into a computer just to correct a wrong note and then transfer the corrected version back into the Montage (I assume this is what I would need to do). Further, I would not be able to build up and layer a song track by track in the Montage itself as with the XF. I believe this is a valuable feature that should be incorporated into the new product.

For those who are satisfied with the current Montage sequencer and computer connection set up, great. They have it. But for those of us who also need/want the basic steak and potatoes sequencer IN the Montage, we are locked out. Why not satisfy both camps? Again, this is not about demeaning the Montage, but increasing its market for others like me who have expressed this concern in this forum.

Thanks for the consideration, and please, no spin about why we are not the focused market and can also have an XF. I have a CP4 that is great and would be interested in using it with only one other keyboard, a Montage that can also do what is already available from Yamaha engineering.

yeah well I went and bought a laptop $800 just for Montage. I needed one anyway but the full function sequencer might only come back on the Montage XS, probably not though. We now have the nice large touch screen but no sampler or sequencer to enjoy with it. Some people take the computer editing and run with it but the small guys like me would prefer not to turn on a computer at all. Apparently we are out of the main stream on this one.

Today is Super Tuesday primary elections day in the U.S. I vote for a "coalition" product- one product that contains the best of all diverse interests; those who want to and those who do not want to use a computer with the Montage. A politically correct product.

I agree to one point. .not to down the Montage, Quite sure it's a monster of a keyboard but Yamaha is forcing the new work flow on a lot of loyal customers, Fact the Motif is one of the most powerful keyboards on the planet, I own 2,just build on the solid foundation that you have, A lot of production work is done with just the keyboard itself without a computer, solid keyboard players will love the Montage but you have drummer's, bassist, guitar players you name it that don't play keyboard well but given an on board sequencer they will create magic, I will test drive the Montage if not satisfied will look at the Zoom ARQ..it has motion sequence, synthesizer, drum machine and midi control, I may just save 2500 without the super knob of course. .
