I bought a DX -7 when it was 6 mths old
I bought a TX-7 when it was a few months old
I bought a SY-77 when it was 10 months old
I bought a FS1-R when it was 15 months old
All new
Bought other FM inclinations along the way.
I can see the great potential the Montage offers
I was very keen but now I'm waiting,
I was a FS1-R "power user" (loading my own F-seq)
I had the Steinberg Atari editor for the SY 77 and a quadraphonic sound system....pan insanity
I spent A LOT of time learning the DX-7/
I dont need or really want the sample section, (I could of course use it)
I dont need another synth but I love them (have 10)
Do i get any discount for currently owning over 10 Yamaha products and easily over 40 in my life time? (No i didnt think so.)
So Yamaha good first effort but plenty of room for improvement, you'll have to wait before you get my money
(opinions are subject to change)
Thanks
...
Dude, nobody cares
@ LGM. I care. 🙂 Can you provide a list of things that are missing on the Montage besides the sequencer/sampler etc. I need a shirt that says "I survived the EX5". Loved the concept but it had no power. A hardware synth (which I prefer) has a really tough challenge to compete with a software synth architecture at similar cost. I'm mainly glad that Yamaha didn't throw in the towel. The Montage is awesome for me but I can see the frustrations for others. I think it will improve with this generation.
+1:)

Loved this line: "All the rest of the people asking for Yamaha to put other features in Montage are amateur hacks."

🙂 😀 This one should also be printed & hung on a lavatory wall: "So Yamaha good first effort but plenty of room for improvement, you'll have to wait before you get my money". Don't you love it!!! "first effort" You heard him, Yamaha...fire the development team.
And this nugget: "before you get my money". What makes you think that Yamaha is hanging out to get your money? Eh?
But that's just my biased "fanboi" (sic) view: https://yamahasynth.com/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&view=post&id=8179&Itemid=851#reply-8248

This is a BS I did not call anyone "hacks" and that whole sentence is a fabrication.
You are a weak minded liar, and would never dare to say that to anyone face to face.
Yep i stand by my good first effort remark.

Well thank you David, an intelligent reply.
There is no doubt the montage is a great synth and i may still get one, i'm pretty sure i've made that clear, but still the fruitloops have come out in force.
Funny the EX-5 is the one of the few "flagships" I never had, was very very interested though.
Yes it is good Yammi has returned to the "synth" world (meaning not just sample based)
Its not that it is missing anything specific, just that they didnt step it forward, all the other "flagships" have added something new to the synth architecture.
Yes the motion seq does add to that, but there is no new synth parameters and many have been deleted.
i have the same criticisms with other manufacturers, they do something great then dont include or develop it in following products, does not make sense to me. i want more complexity, more intricate methods, some 35yrs of playing with synths allows me to crave the "new" on top of what i already know.
And yes I dont want to do it on a computer, nor modular (been there) the interface of the montage looks very fun.
My current main synth is a Waldorf Q and there are similarities with the Montage, although much less voice/effects count etc a highly developed mod system.
Cheers and please i would welcome any other thought you have.
Oh yeah this is my current favorite Yamaha a YZ450F 2012 just a blip under 60hp and well out
of the realms of those fruitloops.
There are 2 people here going by the name of Lgm:

The latter Lgm posted the abusive reply then deleted it (see google cache link above)
Will the real Lgm please stand up? Split personality? Plausible deniability?
The moderators will easily be able to see if the IP addresses are the same...
I think we know what hack registered that similar name, just look when it was, sometime around when he began his hack attack on me:

So, what happened? Changed your mind? Can't help yourself? This was your last response to me:
"You're simply not worth my time, I only skip read your post as it was predictable, and take note: I wont even do that for your next one as i know you wont be able to help yourself with another rant that includes personal attacks. Not that I care. NOTE: I'm not even trying to make you change your mind. I simply do NOT care what you think.
The ONLY reason I post is for open minded, interested people. Not for offensive, closed minded bigots, who are a legend in their own lunch break.
