I've been testing my Montage and I wish to know if the following is normal:
Many, many performances as viewed from the performance screen show ARP ON, MS ON in the boxes just under the part names but often the buttons for ARP ON/OFF and Motion Sequence ON/OFF are not lit. Of course this also means that sometimes they are. Additionally, when the aforementioned boxes under the part names are lit and I select the buttons to be ON, there are no motion sequences. Can you explain?
The buttons on the keyboard are master settings. Individual part-level ARP or sequence or super knob seq on/off are not master (global) settings. They're second tier with more individual control. If the button (master/global) setting is off then all ARP and/or sequence will be off no matter how the 2nd level settings are set.
... adding:
If the master/global setting is ON (ARP or Motion Seq On/OFF) - then policy is set by the more limited scope (part, etc) on/off for ARP or motion sequence.
Lots of configuration screens (within PART edit) you will see on the touchscreen the two "buttons" ("latching" boxes for on/off) next to each other with the master setting on the left and more limited scope setting on the right.
I think the confusion is coming in that you see something "ON" that has been globally set "OFF". When you see an "ON" when you know the global setting is "OFF" - this is Montage only showing the more limited scope variable and allowing you to modify the value - such that when the master is turned back on - your modification to the limited scope variable can take affect. They could have "greyed out" the part-level ARP or motion sequence control to show that the master was off while still allowing you to turn the part-level setting on/off. But this would present its own documentation quirks. Just one of those things on a list of possible sources of confusion. Once you understand what you're looking at - the controls are best left similar to how they work today.

This is normal. The individual Part can have an Arp and/or a Motion Sequence active (armed), whether or not the master [ARP ON/OFF] button or the [MS ON/OFF] is active, which leaves them in a state of "waiting". Activating the the master switch will activate the armed phrase.
This is the programmer hinting to you they have made selections for Arps and/or Motion Sequences. If you want to hear them you simply activate the master switch. It is not by accident, it is very much on purpose. I know no instance (so far) where, for example, there is no associated Motion Sequence. If you find one let us know.
Arpeggios are traditionally Note based phrases, while Motion Sequences are traditionally Controller based phrases.
