Just an FYI follow on to my Level/Vel thread - https://yamahasynth.com/community/montage-series-synthesizers/m8x-why-does-level-vel-parm-reduce-level-to-0-for-extreme-values-in-both-directions/#post-124741

Further testing shows that the velocity related element level parms are NOT considered, and have no effect, when velocity ranges are used to control the triggering of arpeggios or motion sequences.

The graphs on page 333 of the reference doc show how the Level/Vel and offset parameters are applied to the raw key velocity value to determine the velocity value for the key that is sent to the tone generator.

Arpeggios and motion sequences also allow velocity ranges to be set and, when set, only key velocities within those ranges will trigger the arpeggio or motion sequence. Those ranges are NOT affected by the element level parm settings for Level/Vel and offset.

So key velocity values that the tone generator receives may be in the velocity range of a motion sequence or arpeggio without that sequence or arpeggio being triggered. That is, there is NO correlation between the three.

A simple test is to use the configuration shown in graph 3 on page 333

1. Level/Vel = 64

2. Offset = 96

3. set a velocity range of 64-127 for an arpeggio or motion sequence

4. pressing a key with velocity 64 will produce a full sound but will NOT trigger the arpeggio or sequence

5. only actual key presses in the velocity range of 64-127 will trigger the arpeggio or sequence
