I am currently using my Montage in MIDI Single mode. When I launch the Melas Performance Editor, the Montage switches to MIDI Multi mode.
Once the Montage has been switched, I can switch it back to Single mode, and it stays that way until/unless I close and re-launch the Performance Editor.
Single mode has limitations in addressing each individual Part - so it makes sense the editor would force Multi mode in order for the software to accomplish what it needs to in addressing each Part individually.
If it doesn't already - the Melas editor should probably inform you what it's doing (switching from Single to Multi mode for the purposes of editing) and also let you know to cleanly exit the tool so it can restore you back to single mode.
I take it the feedback would be well received.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
When I launch the Performance Editor and then switch the Montage back to MIDI Single mode, the Performance Editor seems to keep working. That makes me wonder if MIDI Multi mode is really required,
I sent a version of the original message to John Melas. I will post any response I get here.
From John Melas:
Yes this intentional. You cannot change the Performance of a Part unless the Montage is in Multi Mode!
From John Melas:
Hello Michael,
Does this mean that I should not change the Montage back to Single mode while the Performance Editor is open?
Yes!
Best regards,
John Melas
