Can I download and install this firmware update using a computer running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan?

Yes. It comes zipped - unzip the file and read the PDF file instructions. You will need to copy the 8N70OS_.PGM File and copy it to the root directory of a USB stick you use with your Montage.
