Dear, anybody has a step by step about how to use the master zone to control 9-16 parts using 1-8?

On my Montage classic this process was very simple as described on this video procedure

On M version I can’t

The M models don't have 'Zone Master' - each part controls its own destiny.

And you should be aware that, officially, Yamaha still doesn't support connecting midi OUT to midi IN.

What does "officially support" mean? By which I mean, I've never heard of any board "officially supporting" it. But the MIDI spec is such that it should just work, within whatever MIDI parameters a board has. A "MIDI Out" doesn't know what it's going to; a "MIDI In" doesn't know what something is coming from; nothing special has to be done for any particular MIDI In to recognize and behave as expected when receiving standard MIDI date from any MIDI Out. So you must mean something beyond that, but I don't know what. (Short of having some additional routing/control functionality that could make such a connection more useful, which yes, would be nice to see in some boards.)

ETA: Or maybe you mean they specifically don't recommend it? (For whatever reason...)

(This was typed as an edit to the previous post, but by the time I hit the button to submit, apparently the post editing time had expired.)

This was probably an allusion to previous (and correct) messaging from Yamaha (for Montage classic) that looping back MIDI Out to MIDI In could have unintended consequences.

The recommended usage of this to drive all 16 Parts from the local keys at once had a few compromises but nothing was going to "blow up".  Electrically this is a safe thing to do and there are a few corner cases of limitations or "gotchas" to be aware of.  I don't have all of these internalized right now -- but my opinion is that the list of "gotchas" is not significant.

At any rate - this is about the M, which doesn't work the same.   The old way you could have a Part as internal and external simultaneously but my understanding is that you now have to designate either internal or external.  I think you'll get more traction with someone that owns the M since hands on is easier to tease out the limitations and provide hands-on feedback that way.

... and yes, the time limit on edits is VERY aggressive.

That is what Yamaha support told me in an email when I specifically ask about connecting MIDI out to MIDI in. They didn't provide any reasoning.
