Will I be able to sample sounds on the Montage like you can on the Motif?

We moved your post from the reface to the Montage Forum heading.

While the Montage can load, import and map Samples to Key Banks right on board, it does not have a sampler nor does it have any sample RAM (work area to destructively manipulate audio data). That should be handled in your computer and then exported to Montage.

So no, it does not work like the Motif XF in this regard. Please, if this is of interest to you, watch the excellent multi-part video tutorial by my fellow Specialist, Heratch Touresian, where he uses Cubase and the Melas Waveform Editor to create an instrument sound for the Motif XF. Mapping is so much more efficient using these tools... Mapping samples is a few clicks rather than the tedious step-by-step methodology of the front panel. It's drag and drop, literally, to move things rather than the rather slow method of the front panel. So compelling is the computer manipulation of this process, you will never work the other way again.

Link to this multi-part video tutorial is here:
From Samples to Custom Voice and although shot for the Motif XF this will work for the MOXF and the Montage as well.

Following the method outlined, you would buy a 3rd party piece of software which accepts various multisample formats and spits out Motif XF waveforms in the form of X3W files. Note: the software is also capable of generating X3A and X3V which apply to your question. I'll ignore ARPs.

This software runs anywhere from 60-135 Euro ($62.62-$140.91 USD as of today) depending on the functionality you want. Actually, when I go to purchase using the "ShareIt!" icon, I get 60Euro = $70.07 USD to 135Euro = $157.66 USD. Likely the bank processing fees are tacked on.

Regarding supported import formats - from the 3rd party website:

You can import instruments from several sources as Waveforms: SoundFont (SF2) files, GigaStudio (GIG), AKAI (AKP), AIFF, WAV, MP3, WMA, FLAC and OGG Vorbis files are supported. Metadata information (loop points, velocity ranges etc) inside the files is recognized.

You can import samples from several audio files: AIFF, WAV, MP3, WMA, FLAC or OGG. Metadata information (loop points, velocity ranges etc) inside the files or even in the filenames (pattern matching) is recognized.

And ...

You can load both VOICE Libraries and SAMPLE Libraries in Motif XF format... (.X3A), (.X3V), (.X3W), directly to Montage
