Hi I'm new here. Looking to upgrade and was wondering if the Montage comes with the same voices and performances as the Motif XS?
Thanks
Ross

The Motif-series serves as the backbone for the MONTAGE-series.
All 355MB of XS Wave ROM is included in the 5.67GB of MONTAGE Factory ROM
All 2,670 Waveforms are included in the 6,347 Factory Waveforms of the MONTAGE
All of the Preset Voices and Drum Kit Voices are included as Single Part Performances (there no longer is a Voice Mode), and all Motif XS/XF Performances are included among the 2739 Factory Performances.
The AMW2 Engine is 128 Note Stereo polyphony (double the polyphony of the XS because the XS while 128 Poly, it used two samples to make stereo. The FM-X Engine is 128 notes of separate polyphony (not affected by the AWM2 engine, at all).
All 6,633 Arpeggios are included among MONTAGE’s 10,239 Arps

The fundamental manageable/playable entity in MONTAGE is a Performance. This opens the sound design architecture - you can build a massive instrument sound with unprecedented detail and nuance, or you can use the Multi Part engine to control several different sounds split, layered, split/layered, across the keyboard. 8 simultaneous Arpeggiators are available for use in your Performance programs.

Add to this the FM-X Engine... the 21 Century version of the Yamaha FM engine... the 8-Operator, 128 note poly synth engine features several new wrinkles and an unprecedented ease-of-use feature for creating new and unique sounds.

The MONTAGE is like having multiple Motifs and multiple DXs... 8 Motif XFs and a TX816 (8 DX7s) in one box — tied together with the Motion Control Synthesis Engine — a method to precisely control and manipulate multiple parameters across multiple Parts.

For people familiar with MOTIF-series:
_ Where MOTIF had four different modes (Voice, Performance, Master and Mix) for playing back, editing and mixing parts, MONTAGE has one mode: Performance. What was a Voice in MOTIF is now a Single Part Performance in MONTAGE, and each Performance now contains its own Mix. This reflects a move towards a more streamlined, all-inclusive workflow.
_ Master Keyboard functionality has been improved and now exists within each Performance as a complete master setup instead of a separate mode, allowing for better integration of MONTAGE Performances with external gear.
_ MOTIF featured a linear SONG and loop-based PATTERN sequencer for recording and playback. In contrast, MONTAGE has a quick and easy Performance Recorder to instantly capture inspiration. There are still linear Songs and looping Patterns, but the Sequencer function has been redesigned to support MultiPart recording. Data can be literally dragged and dropped into your computer DAW for deeper editing and audio rendering.
_ For more detailed edits, MONTAGE features a powerful 32-channel out/6 in USB audio and MIDI interface capable of recording each Part of a Performance as both a MIDI track and multichannel stereo digital audio track on your DAW (Cubase AI included).
_ Loading custom waveform content into the onboard flash memory of MONTAGE is possible. Better yet, user samples can be played back, assigned, processed and controlled with the Motion Control Synthesis Engine.
