It's been a while since I posted an update here, but for those who haven't seen them already, I have published several new tutorial videos.

MONTAGE M with Logic Pro: An in-depth guide to configuration, use and performance
https://youtu.be/pYWuN3NfXIs

Polyphonic aftertouch with Yamaha MONTAGE M6 and M7
https://youtu.be/KW3GaWFFBeU

Add keyboard control to parts 9-16 with Yamaha MONTAGE M, MODX and MONTAGE
https://youtu.be/jvWQ4t15OqI

Building a multi-keyboard performance using Yamaha MONTAGE M with splits and layers
https://youtu.be/IrPpSjmZQq0

I've also produced a video discussing the MIDI transmission design for MONTAGE M, and how it loses important power and flexibility compared to MONTAGE and MODX.

Nobody wanted this change! Yamaha MONTAGE M MIDI transmission behaviour
https://youtu.be/LkX8Kn2iDhw

And there is an accompanying Ideascale suggestion with ideas for how to address the shortcomings: https://yamahasynth.ideascale.com/c/yamahasynth/idea/180019

Thanks for cross posting.  This is an important part of any modern keyboard / synthesizer with MIDI capabilities.  Although I understand the limitations various architectural choices (that may be laced with legacy core functionality in ASICs) I think it's important for Yamaha to decouple internal Part addressing from MIDI such that any Part can assume any MIDI input and any MIDI output channels including doubling.  And the output should just make sure that doubled events from two Parts sharing the same MIDI channel should filter out the duplicates.  And that on input no filtering is necessary.   All of this while allowing any Part to be tied to the tone generator or not with two paths of ignoring internal key presses or ignoring external MIDI events.  Allowing again for simultaneous events from both of that's what the user configured.

And no games or special modes.  If arp output is on then arp data comes out.

Any other funky stuff can happen with non-normal modes but normal operation should allow for granular setting of each in and out behavior.

Your tutorials have always been super helpful, and it’s great to see new content, especially on topics like polyphonic aftertouch and setting up multi-keyboard performances. I’m really intrigued by the discussion around the MIDI transmission design change — definitely seems like a step back in flexibility. I’ll check out the Ideascale suggestion and add my vote. Keep up the fantastic work! <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">planet clicker

Now that Logic and the Editor are visible in audio/midi, Logic is still not recording midi data and the Editor still indicates that it is not linked. https://yamahasynth.com/forum/i-can-t-get-usb-to-work-for-montage-8/

@Kler, Thanks for sharing this. It’s a crucial feature in any modern keyboard or synthesizer that has MIDI capabilities. But I can't access this link: Polyphonic aftertouch with Yamaha MONTAGE M6 and M7 - <a class="wpforo-auto-embeded-link" href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> removed link

Can you help me?

Try this link: https://youtu.be/KW3GaWFFBeU

If that doesn't work, type youtu.be then add a / then add KW3GaWFFBeU

Both the original link in the original message and reposted link work for me without needing to cut-and-paste.
