There are tons of wish list items afloat. Anyone willing to pay Yamaha to meet those expectations? The free improvements make their flag ship more desirable so they still benefit from the upgrades however most of our wish list items might never get addressed without compensation or shall I say proper motivation.

Motivation helps get them released sooner I would assume.

A demand list would pull for payment. A wish list is free customer feedback Yamaha would usually need to invest some bucks into conducting market research.

The problem I see with some of the wishes is that they turn into demands or, worse yet, threats. I see no reason to pay anything for providing Yamaha with feedback and I expect no updates in return. I throw the penny into the water fountain and hope something comes out of the wish.

If a feature is realized from such a wish - I'm happy to have the feature and also happy to have participated in the collective feedback which helped guide priorities. My view of Yamaha goes up and more loyalty is gained. This is likely how it works for most others.

A bug report is not the same as a wish. Those should be fixed. "Demands" (level-headed) are more permissible there. The rub here is that customers sometimes mis-identify what is a bug. Sometimes a bug report is simply a misunderstanding of the feature or architecture.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Brings to mind how they would handle different OS packs. All bugs get fixed in every pack is a given.

(3) OS packs for example: (1) is free to everyone same as now, (2) has a cost associated and it adds features A,B,C for those interested. (3) has a cost associated with it and it adds features X,Y, Z to A,B,C.

Then how do you protect the OS 2 & 3 versions? I guess this wouldn't work this way. Everyone gets the same OS upgrade if wanted but I'm not sure how you pay Yamaha to move forward with user desired features.

A survey would effectively focus their attention on the greatest demands I suppose. Then you need a survey to assemble a survey. Which features make the survey list cut?

First.
It would have to be a competent Survey. IE: All the Montage users. They can find.(That's never happened!(At any company.))
Second.
The Montage, The Genos, The PA series(Korg) and the Kronos.
All have Upgradable OS's. And this was and is a Selling/Marketing point. It also benefits the Company(Korg, Yamaha).
As they can Keep the same model. In production. Many more years. Than just a firmware type keyboard.
So let's not ask to give them more money.
OS updates are Much, much cheaper. Than a new model keyboard is to produce. And It is all part of what we Bought into.
