You posted in the MONTAGE forum, is this where you wanted to post your question? You don’t mention your keyboard.
You forgot to mention what you want sound to be coming from. We assume you “put Windows 10” on your computer.
What is the purpose of the Steinberg UR44?
_ You need to connect the Main L/R Outputs to a quality sound system (studio monitors make the most sense for home studio setups). Sound of the MONTAGE will go directly from these Outputs to the speakers. Important note: your computer speakers will not be used!!!
_ You need to connect the USB “TO HOST” port to an available USB port on your Windows computer
_ You need to download and install the “Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver” for your Windows 10 computer.
_ You need to download and install the Steinberg Cubase AI software for your Windows computer
I am currently using a different audio interface (Behringer UMC404HD) which is similar in function and architecture/settings as your UR44. I do not use ASIO4ALL or other "fancy" software to get around Window's limitation of a single audio driver active at any given time. Therefore, I have Montage's audio output routed to the UMC404HD's first two inputs. My studio monitors are connected as outputs from the UMC404HD. The UMC has the ability to directly monitor the inputs (in my case, inputs 1&2 as Montage L and Montage R) so I can always hear Montage's output. Simultaneously, the UMC as my computer's audio interface will play the PC sounds through its USB/digital channel.
I also have Montage's USB connected to my PC so that I can monitor MIDI which is independent of the audio.
This set of physical connections is flexible because if I wanted to multi-track using Montage's digital outputs (USB1&2 - USB29&30 + Digital MainL&R) then I could set my audio interface in Windows to MONTAGE. Now my PC sounds are going through the USB connection to Montage (no longer directly to the UMC). These sounds still end up out my UMC-connected monitors because Montage is delivered the PC sounds through its digital Main L&R input - Montage's Main L&R analog outputs are connected to the UMC - so this connection is monitored directly to the HS8 speakers connected to the UMC.
Either way - if Montage is the audio interface or UMC is the audio interface - I can get the sound of both the PC and Montage delivered out the HS8 studio monitors without changing cable connections. One configuration (UMC as the audio interface) gives me two additional channels of XLR inputs in addition to the two used by Montage for recording using microphones that require phantom power. Montage is reduced to a stereo mix in this configuration but I have better "mixer" control with knobs on a hardware interface for each channel's level. In the other configuration (Montage as audio interface) I have, overall, an enhanced setup with 32 digital channels of Montage's output available to the PC. I can use Montage's A/D inputs for the other 2 channels of inputs to replace the ones I would have had available on the UMC. These are less flexible as Montage's inputs are not phantom powered nor XLR - so I do have personality conversion if I need XLR although no phantom power injector (I don't need it). The downside overall - even though more flexible - is that the A/D inputs are in the back and generally difficult to get to. But overall - I do not really lose anything - the two configurations are nearly parity in terms of top-level features. The Montage-as-the-interface has the clear benefit of enabling the 32 digital tracks of Montage's output (USB1-30 + Digital Main L&R).
