ok this is frustrating.. i had a great groove going with 8 arps and i was ready to create a 9th arp when i realize that the montage wouldn't let me?? i thought the montage is 16 parts with 16 arps?? anyway is it possible to hook another Montage to each other so i have an additional 8 parts of arp playing at the same time?
Letβs hear it!
You're right - only 8 PARTs can have the PART-level "ARP On" turned on. Any combination of 8 will remove toggle button once 8 PARTs have ARPs turned on.
I did a test with no notes - I just used ARPs to apply movement to the Assignable Knob 1 for each PART. If you want to use ARPs on every PART simultaneously (even for non-note events) - you cannot.
This is an area, I presume, that the Montage would expect/require an external device (like a DAW, software sequencer, another keyboard, or a dedicated hardware sequencer) would take on the role of automating an arpeggio so you could use all 16 PARTs - but leverage the arpeggio resources of an external device.

the funny thing is I couldn't find a reference anywhere in the Yamaha manuals that mentions this limit! Anywhere BadMister I would play my music for you when I am as good as you π

see the Specifications on page 63 of your Owners Manual.
See the very first mention of Arpeggios on page 24 βUsing the Arpeggio Functionβ.
Once you record using Arpeggiators the data is printed to the MIDI Track, you can reuse the Arpeggiators- so it is a maximum of 8 Arps at a time. Through the process of overdubbing you can use the Arpeggiators again and again...

Yes but i would have to introduce a daw in my setup.. was hoping to create full tracks on the Montage alone without using a computer..
Montage's design is to become more tethered to a computer for many tasks vs. Motif. Your hope is not aligned with the current strategy.

Montage was made to work with cubase that why is no sequencer included I guess you knew that before you bought Montage or no?
I got Kronos for that reason and kept Montage as well because no other keyboard have so many arps simple as that.
