Dear Forum,
I’d like to share with you all an album I just released which contains loads of Yamaha Montage in it.
The 70min piece “The Measuring Stick” is a challenging and intense composition. Repeated listening will uncover a lot of content if you’re up for it!
The premier performance of this piece was in a cinema turned up loud and it was a full house. Very intense experience!!
You can download it here:
The piece contains no third party samples (including no onboard samples from Montage). It contains only analog subtractive (sampled from my synths and put on my Montage) and FM synth sounds (mostly from Yamaha TX816 but lots of Montage FM too). It’s 100% all synths! 🙂 🙂 🙂 No microphones were used, also no granular or wavetable synthesis etc..
What made the Montage so good for this kind of creative work (besides the FM stuff) was morphing between the samples I loaded it up with. Such a stunning audio engine inside the Montage. It just sounds so good!
I welcome any/all feedback.
Thanks for listening! 🙂
Joe Manton
PS, if anyone is interest to see what most of the equipment used in the piece was... it’s mostly all visible here:
