Hello,
I have following Setup:
- Montage 7: Firmware V1.5
- Macbook Pro OSX 10.11.16
- Logic Pro X (current version)
- newest Yamaha Steinberg driver.
I have random USB connection issues when using Montage with DAW.
When Midi Recording:
- Sometimes Midi Recording aborts.
- Sometimes the first note is not recorded. My current workaround: Start Song on measure 2.
When Audio recording (especially when rendering midi):
- Audio contains sometimes crackling noise
- Audio recording aborts sometimes
When sending an audio stream from Mac to Montage e.g. playback song, audio playback on Montage sometimes stops working for around 2 seconds. Then it's working again. No user action needed.
I've also tried different USB cables. ==> Same problem.
Same setup with another audio interface (Behringer xAir 18) causes no problems.
Does anyone have similar problems?
For me it seems to be a driver problem or Montage Firmware bug.
Have a look in "Audio MIDI Setup" and see if MONTAGE is showing "Device is online" as checked.
Whenever I boot the Montage it does not show up as online the first time. If I shut down and reboot the Montage it then shows as online in "Audio MIDI Setup."
Until I do this, MIDI does not function properly in Logic and various other apps I use with the Montage.
I have tried various changes to settings in the Montage and on my Mac, but a second start of the Montage is the only way I can guarantee Midi functionality on my setup.
"Unfortunately" in my case the Montage is online! I think it's a different problem.
First I supposed that I had set a too small I/O buffer. But as I have also problems with MIDI and not only Audio this can't be the root cause.
Any other ideas? Maybe from YAMAHA?
Hello Stefan - might be unrelated, but Clive has a point. I have an external monitor repeating the Montage screen, which must be on before switching the Montage on - doesn't work the first time. I must switch Montage off, and then switch on a second time for the external monitor to work. Montage does have little idiosyncrasies like that ...
